Appeal from MoveOn.org to help the Burmese people
In the wake of a massive cyclone, tens of thousands of Burmese are dead and a million are homeless. But what's happening
in Burma is not just a natural disaster—it's also a catastrophe of bad leadership.
Burma's brutal and corrupt military junta failed to warn the people, failed to evacuate any areas, and suppressed freedom
of communication so that Burmese people didn't know the storm was coming when the rest of the world did. Now the government
is failing to respond to the disaster and obstructing international aid organizations.
The International Burmese Monks Organization, including many leaders of the democracy protests last fall, launched
a new effort to provide relief through Burma's powerful grass roots network of monasteries ... the most trusted institutions
in the country and currently the only source of housing and support in many devastated communities.

Call on Secretary of State Rice to resign
When we called for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to resign for her role in approving the torture of people in
American custody, we knew it would be a tough fight. Over 70,000 people like you took action and demanded she resign. We
ran a 30 second T.V. ad laying out the facts. And everyone from MSNBC's Countdown to ABC News to the Washington Post reported
on Sec. Rice's involvement.
The New York Times editorial board put it all into perspective and lays out why our campaign is important even though
the Bush Administration will be out of office in less than a year:
"...as national security adviser and now as secretary of state, Ms. Rice has been central to policy formulation and
execution. Yet, while Mr. Rumsfeld was almost run out of Washington on a rail, her name still surfaces now and again as a
potential vice presidential candidate."

Buyout Billionaires' Recession-Proof Secrets Revealed

through tax loopholes in 2006 alone? That's just one buyout billionaire, in one year, making use of one loophole!
Just think how much these private equity crooks are costing taxpayers who are already battling financial hardships and home
foreclosures.
Now for the serious part. Join over 18,000 people who have already signed our petition demanding our presidential candidates
close the Henry Kravis tax loophole. Then, please send this film along to ten people. Make sure Larry the Loophole
is seen by friends, relatives, and schoolmates through Digg, Facebook, MySpace-the works!

Stop the harmful Medicaid Regulations
The Bush Administration, without Congressional approval, issued seven new Medicaid regulations in 2007 that together
will strip an estimated $50 billion in federal funds from states over the next five years.
These cuts will have a rippling effect throughout the economy, eliminating jobs, wages, and lost business activity.
The House overwhelmingly passed a bill to put a hold on these harmful regulations. Now tell your Senator to do the same.

DNC Ad Exposes the Real McCain
John McCain wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years. He's said it and it's on tape, but his campaign hates that he
was caught. They've viciously attacked anyone who reminded the American people that he said it. They've said that
those who reference the 100 years comments are "deliberately misleading voters."
So the DNC has taken John McCain's own words -- video of him saying that 100 years would be "fine with me"
-- and made a TV ad. There's no confusion, no distortion, no misleading -- it's John McCain on tape, for voters
to judge on their own.

McCain Outrage in New Orleans
This past Sunday, John McCain again embraced the political support of right-wing evangelist John Hagee, who
said "Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans."
Please Sign a petition asking Senator McCain to stop seeking political support from hatemongers like Hagee. Senator
McCain is actually in New Orleans today, and MoveOn members from that region will try to give him this petition.

Speaker Fabian Nunez calls for Summer of Change
This summer California faces a budget fight over a projected $8 billion budget shortfall. That budget fight, though, is going
to be about a lot more than just a bunch of dry numbers. It’s going to be a fight about our future. About the direction
of our state, our priorities as Californians, our kids and our seniors.
We can't borrow our way out of this problem, and yet year after year our governor and the Republicans in our state legislature
steadfastly refuse to make their rich friends pay their fair share. Instead, they're willing to slash funding for public schools,
for veterans, for the environment, and for health care and services to our kids, our seniors, and our disabled.
This summer we’re going to have to ask ourselves hard questions. We have to fix an $8 billion deficit. So do we want
to cut funding to our schools? Remove the safety net to seniors? Close parks? Or do we want to start charging sales tax on
yachts, tax the windfall profits of oil companies, and make the wealthiest Californians pay more?

Tell President Bush To Fight Global Warming
Recently, President Bush delivered what was billed as a major speech on global warming.
What a disaster! Rather than staking out a set of ambitious goals for America to strive for, the President argued that the
United States should do nothing about global warming until 2025.
That's completely irresponsible -- and President Bush needs to hear it.
Senator Barbara Boxer is going to deliver a petition to the White House, demanding that President Bush stand up and join the
fight to stop global warming. Please add your name to the petition by clicking on the link below:

One hundred years in Iraq ... Six months at a time
No matter what happens in Iraq, the Bush administration and John McCain always have an answer: 6 more
months.
When the "surge" began a year ago, they told America things would get better by September. In September, they said we'd know
more by spring. And this week, General Petraeus is on Capitol Hill asking for ... you guessed it ... 6 more months.
Senator McCain and President Bush couldn't agree more.
They don't have a plan for getting us out of Iraq, so they're trying to sell endless war on an installment plan. Six
more months won't change anything ... except the body count and the price tag. It's critical that the news media and
voters know that the Bush-McCain strategy in Iraq is to keep us there indefinitely ... 6 months at a time. So MoveOn.org
put together a video exposing their "6 month" gambit.

No More Tax Dollars for Bush's Iraq Occupation
Congress will soon consider President Bush's latest request for "emergency" funding to continue to pay for the occupation
of Iraq. Representative John Murtha, chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, will head up the
committee that writes the legislation for this funding request.
After five years and more than five hundred billion dollars sunk into this occupation, our elected officials should stand
up and say "no more." Please sign the petition below, urging Rep. Murtha to appropriate funds only
for a responsible and timely redeployment of our troops out of Iraq. Former Congressman Tom Andrews and members of
the Win Without War coalition will deliver your signatures to Congressman Murtha in person before the supplemental
appropriations bill is written.
